The nutrients this page collects are the ones the thyroid actually uses. Iodine and tyrosine are the raw materials of thyroid hormone; selenium is required by the enzymes that convert it. That is why these three keep appearing together.
Iodine comes from NOW Kelp at 325 mcg — a whole-food source rather than an isolated salt. L-tyrosine is stocked at 500 mg from both NOW and Nutricost, the amino acid the thyroid combines with iodine. Selenium is available at 200 mcg from NOW and Force Factor, and in NOW's NAC with Selenium.
If you would rather not assemble the three separately, NOW Thyroid Energy combines iodine, tyrosine, selenium, zinc and copper in one formula.
This is a nutrition page and shares no products with Hormonal Support — the two cover genuinely different ground.
Iodine intake matters in both directions and interacts with thyroid medication. If you have a diagnosed thyroid condition or take thyroid medicine, talk to your doctor before adding iodine or selenium.
